Instructions on loading your own Conversions: (This set of
instructions assumes familiarity with using Desktop Manager to download
flashcards or reference guides on to the phone. This will be simplified in
subsequent releases.)
1) Create a new Google spreadsheet.
2) In the first column, enter the name of the conversion. Try to use
relatively short, unique names, since they will be listed in the Conversions
dialog within the application.
3) In the second, adjacent column, enter in a gCalc expression, using the
variable "cv" that represents the conversion value that the user will enter into
the dialog. Currently only one variable is allowed.
4) Create as many rows of conversions as is appropriate. It may look
something like:
Btu->foot.lbs | cv*778.3
Complex expressions may be used. For example:
°F->°C | ((cv-32)*5)/9
5) Click on "Sheet1" and name this worksheet tab appropriately (e.g., Length,
Energy, Financial). This will be the title displayed in the conversion
list on the phone.
6) Share the spreadsheet with the gWhiz Catalog. From the Catalog, find
your spreadsheet then select “Download” to save it to your desktop.
Alternatively, you can also choose to download it from your Google account to
your phone using “Get My Google Data...” in gRef or gFlash and then email it to
yourself to save it to your desktop.
7) Plug the phone into the USB and start the Desktop Manager. Bring up the media
manager.
8) Like we did with gWhiz file data, create a directory called
"gwhizconv". Copy the downloaded conversions .gts file into that
directory.
9) Disconnect the phone and bring up gCalc. gCalc will automatically load
all .gts files in gwhizconv into the Conversions dialog.
